In 1997, Thomas and Ute Haag bought the Schloss Lieser winery on the Middle Mosel. At the time, it was in a desolate state, so the son of Mosel legend Wilhelm Haag faced a major task. Together with his wife and a great deal of motivation and passion, he not only dedicated himself to this challenge, but mastered it brilliantly. Today, the VDP winery produces top-class Rieslings on around 24 hectares in the best steep slopes of the Middle Mosel. And that is not just our opinion. Critics love the wines, give them top ratings and have already named Thomas Haag “Winemaker of the Year” several times. The next generation is now in the starting blocks. While son Niklas, after training as a winemaker and studying oenology, is already actively supporting his father in the cellar and outside operations, daughter Lara, after completing her in-depth training, is focusing on sales and export.\n
