Chateau TOUR PEZ is a Cru Bourgeois of 30 ha, located in SaintEstephe in Medoc, one of the most famous wine regions of France. The name of the hamlet of Pez originated in the sixteenth century manor
owned by families and Pontac Fumel, formerly owner of HautBrion. It was not until 1931 that the property will definitely called "Chateau TOUR PEZ" because the tower built in the thirteenth century dominated buildings and parcels identified in the land under the name of PEZ. In 1989, Philippe BOUCHARA, from the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industry, bought the property. Upon his arrival, he was able to empower themselves worthy of a Grand Cru Classe. He undertook the restoration of buildings, the reconstruction of the tower and the renovation of technical installations. Aged on average 35 years, the vineyard is based on two types of soil: the famous serious Gironde, which bring elegance, finesse and silky tannins and marl clay and limestone that generate power and structure. On such soils traditional grape varieties thrive in the Medoc: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Manually harvested in crates, the grapes are sorted first time on the vine, then a second manual sorting is done in the cellar. They are then vinified in stainless steel thermoregulated and raised in French oak barrels for 14 months. With an annual production of 100,000 bottles
Chateau Tour de Pez and 80,000 bottles for Hauts de Pez, the second wine, the property plays complementary supply while taking quality work for both.
