Subtle and sophisticated, this opens with a floral and fruity fragrance of honeysuckle, peach and tropical fruit. The focused palate delivers creamy stone fruit, cantaloupe, citrus zest, mineral and a hint of candied ginger. It's impeccably balanced with fresh acidity.\n \n Producer Information\n Pieropan is an Italian estate in the northeastern wine-producing region of Veneto. For generations the estate has dedicated itself to the making of Soave Classico wines, for which is it considerably famous, but has also expanded its winemaking expertise to encompass the red wines of Valpolicella. The company can trace its origins back to the late 19th Century and the village of Soave. Leonildo Pieropan established the estate at Palazzo Pullici and since then successive generations of the Pieropan family have taken on the responsibilities of the estate and its three organically farmed vineyards: Calvarino, La Rocca and Garzon. The Calvarino vineyard is situated in the Soave Classico region and its stone terraces have been cultivated by the Pieropan family since 1901. The vineyard takes its name from the Italian for "small ordeal", as the volcanic-rich soils create particularly difficult viticultural conditions for its Garganega and Trebbiano di Soave grapes. The family's second vineyard in the Soave Classico zone, La Rocca, sits atop chalky, clay soils on southwest-facing slopes. The Garganega grapes grown here form the basis of the estate's La Rocca single-vineyard Soave Classico wine. Pieropan also makes a sweet white Recioto di Soave wine from Garganega grapes grown in the Soave Classico region, as well as a sparkling rosé from the Corvina grape variety, and an extra virgin olive oil. In 1999, Pieropan acquired an uncultivated plot of land in the Valpolicella wine zone on the Garzon hillside. The limestone and clay soils were planted to several Valpolicella grape varieties: Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Croatina Veronese. All of the estate's Soave Classico wines are produced at its historic winery in the heart of Soave. An additional winery was constructed in 2005 at Villa Cipolla Pieropan in Tregnago Verona in order to produce its Valpolicella Superiore and Amarone della Valpolicella wines.
