Fabrice Vigot Gevrey Chambertin Vieilles Vignes 2016 750 ML

2016 Domaine Vigot Fabrice Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes was complex, earthy and savoury. The developing Gevrey Pinot Noir was clear and medium ruby in colour with traces of fine sediments. Expressive notes of farmyard and liqourice jumped out of the glass. With two hours of in-bottle aeration, aromas of red cherry, bramble and rose emerged, complemented by gaminess underneath.

The mouthfeel was dry and medium-bodied, balanced by medium-high level of acidity and medium level of finely grained tannin. Flavours of wild blackberry, violet and earth persisted in a rather long savoury finish. It was a classic example of an earthy and savoury Gevrey.
