A vibrant and fresh expression of Chenin Blanc. Aromas of fresh pear, ripe apricot and subtle oak spice lead to a firm texture with a beautiful fine crisp line penetrating the length of the palate supporting flavours of ripe Granny Smith apples and cinnamon spice. Producer Information Mulderbosch Vineyards is an award-winning South African wine producer, founded in 1989 in the Koelenhof region of Stellenbosch. A wider range of still and sparkling wines are made from both estate fruit and partners within Stellenbosch and the Coastal Region. The estate was originally a rundown fruit farm before being converted into vineyard with around 25 hectares (61 acres) under vine. The first wines were Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. The estate was the first in the country to introduce a barrel-fermented Chenin Blanc (Steen Op Hout). Its Rosé of Cabernet Sauvignon was also a trailblazer in its category. Mulderbosch was acquired by a California-based investor, Terroir Capital, in 2011. The purchase included the estate vineyards and winery as well as the current range of wines. As of April 2020, the lineup includes a quartet of Chenin Blanc whites, the Steen Op Hout bottling and three block-designated single-vineyard releases. There are also two Sauvignon Blancs, one dry and one late-harvest sweet version. Other still wines are the aforementioned rosé, a single-vineyard Cabernet Franc, and the Faithful Hound red. The lineup is completed by a pair of sparling wines, the MCC Brut and a sparkling rosé. Both the Muldersbosch Chardonnay and Barrel Fermented Chardonnay have recently been discontinued. A new Chardonnay cuvée was scheduled to be debuted in mid-2020.
