This spectacular region is a place of unparalleled beauty with unique growing conditions and vineyards. It is the coolest appellation in Sonoma County with diverse soils and microclimates owing to its tumultuous geological history. In the summer evenings a thick fog pours into the valleys, sometimes dropping the temperature 40 degrees; then steadily retreats to the nearby coast by mid-morning leaving sunlit days. These specific climate conditions allow the grapes to ripen slowly and evenly having long hang time on the vine which allows full, rich flavors to develop. These make for some of the best conditions recognized for growing world class Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon. When we decided to make a wine together, we embraced the Russian River & Alexander Valley as our winemaking home.
