Founded in 1994 by Don and Jennifer Hartford, the Hartford Family Winery resides in a French-style chateau in the town of Forestville, in the southwestern Russian River Valley. The winery specializes in small lots of vineyard-designated wines of high personality. The wines are labeled with two distinct marks: Hartford Court for the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and Hartford for old-vine Zinfandel from the Russian River Valley. In recent years, Hartford Family Winery has produced over 25 single-vineyard wines from discrete vineyard blocks from extraordinary vineyard sites extending from Sta. Rita Hills in California north to Eola-Amity Hills in Oregon. Hartford Family Winery was founded in 1994 as a result of Don and Jennifer Hartford's appreciation for the wines, the people, and the unique vineyards near their Russian River Valley home. Located in the Sonoma County town of Forestville, the winery is about 15 miles from the cool Pacific Coast. Making delicious wines of high personality is directly related to the difficult locations of our vineyard sources, the limited production of our bottlings and the varietals we use. Hartford Russian River Valley Zinfandel is showing aromas of ripe plum, blackberry, black cherry which are highlighted with hints of white pepper and allspice. Blueberry, red raspberry, nutmeg and mocha flavors lead into a long, bright finish with supple tannins.
