This a Syrah leading, Rhone style blend made for pure indulgence. India Ink is rich, full, oak driven and hedonistic. We select barrels and wine lots to create a blend that is deep purple in color, loaded with blue-black fruit aromas, and is meaty, rich and powerful on the palate. The 2019 India Ink boasts aromas of red and black fruits, tobacco, and black pepper. These aromas continue to the palate, with flavors of blackberry, boysenberry and savory notes of cured meat, dried herbs and a subtle smokiness.\n \n Producer Information\n Kuleto Estate (formerly Kuleto Estate Family Vineyards) is a California winery in the eastern Napa Valley above Lake Hennessey and overlooking Rutherford (although estate wines carry the Napa Valley designation). It grows the popular Napa varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay as well as regionally uncommon grapes such as Sangiovese. In 2009, Kuleto was acquired by the Foley Family Wine Group. The estate was established by Pat Kuleto, a prominent American restaurant designer and financier. He bought the property in 1992 and a year later planted the first vines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Sangiovese and Chardonnay. Wines were not produced commercially until the completion of a new winery in 2001. The estate now produces roughly 10,000 cases annually. The Kuleto property covers 308 hectares (761 acres), of which 36.5 hectares (90 acres) are under vine. The vineyards are planted above the valley at altitudes of between 245-440m (800-1450ft) above sea level. The top soil has a prominence of loose shale allowing for good drainage and heat retention, complimented by lower layers of red clay that retain moisture. The vineyards are divided into over one hundred individual parcels. Each is harvested separately leading to extensive harvest periods that can last almost two months. Besides the signature varieties, a number of other grapes are planted for limited production or blending such as Syrah, Zinfandel, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Muscat.
