A hard coating of woodspice sits atop herbal plum and berry aromas. This feels tough and nearly impermeable. Spicy, briary plum flavors are lean and taste woody on a dry, tannic finish. \n \n Producer Information \n Bodegas Salentein is an Argentinian wine producer, located in Mendoza's Uco Valley. It produces a wide range of wines from classic Argentinian grape varieties, headed by the Gran VU Blend, a Malbec-based blend with Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate is comprised of about 800 hectares (1100 acres) of vineyards in the Uco Valley. Altitude has a significant impact on the terroir here with vineyards between 1050 and 1700 meters (3444 to 5577 feet) above sea level. A majority of the vineyards are planted to red grape varieties like Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir, although around a fifth of the vineyard is planted to white grapes, including Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. Along with the Gran VU, Salentein produces several different wine ranges. The Primus and Single Vineyard ranges are at the top end, and consist of varietal wines sourced from the estate's key grape varieties. There is also a Malbec-dominant Bordeaux blend called Numina Gran Corte of which spends approximately five years aging in the cellar prior to release. Bodega Salentein also produces wines under the Killka and Portillo labels.
