Sweet-berry, bark and forest-floor aromas. It’s medium-to full-bodied with notes of blackberry, violet, cedar and spice. The palate is savory and juicy with round tannins. The finish is elegant, clean and showing length. \n \n Producer Information \n Antica Napa Valley is a winery located high on the eastern mountains of Atlas Peak AVA in Napa Valley, California. The estate is owned by the Antinori family, who have been making wine in Italy for over 600 years, and the name Antica comes from the combination of the words California and Antinori. The winery produces small lots of Cabernet Sauvignon from high-elevation, estate-owned vineyards that lie above the fog line. In the mid 1980s, Italian winemaker and businessman Marchese Piero Antinori saw potential to grow quality wine grapes at a 486-hectare (1200-acre) property in Napa. He joined a venture with England's Whitbread drinks company and France's Bollinger Champagne house to develop vineyards there. In 1993, the Antinori family purchased the entire estate and built a winery the following year. It was not until 2007 that Antica Napa Valley released its first wines, however: a 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon and 2006 Chardonnay. The Antica estate includes 243 hectares (600 acres) of vineyard land, divided into more than 50 blocks. The property is planted primarily to Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, which together make up the bulk of production. There are also blocks planted to Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sangiovese, Syrah, and Sauvignon Blanc. Antica Napa Valley is currently run by Piero Antinori and his three daughters, Albiera, Allegra, and Alessia.
