Bright ruby red with sparkling glints. On the nose, predominant scents of raspberry jam, as well as raw meaty elements, white pepper, mild notions of mint, and background nuances of roasted almonds. Immediately evident on the palate, with grippy tannins, malty tones.\n Producer Information\n Tenuta Sant'Antonio is a winery located in the Monti Garbi area of Verona, near Lake Garda. The winery is owned by four brothers: Armando, Paolo, Tiziano, and Massimo Castagnedi, and produces Soave, Valpolicella and Amarone wines. The estate is made up of 50 hectares (124 acres) of vineyards – 30 hectares (74 acres) around Mezzane and 20 hectares (50 acres) in San Zeno di Colognola ai Colli in the Valpolicella district. Grape varieties grown in these vineyards include classic regional varieties Corvina, Molinara, Rondinella, Garganega and Trebbiano di Soave, and more international varieties like Chardonnay. Both the red and white wines are aged in contact with their lees, and are mixed in stainless steel wine jars and later via the tradtional bâtonnage method in barrel. They are then filtered just a few days before bottling. Tenuta Sant'Antonio's flagship wine is an Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva named Lilium Est. The wine is made by the appassimento process where after harvest, the grapes are dried for several weeks on bamboo racks or straw mats, to concentrate sugars for increased body and intensity of flavor. Sant'Antonio makes a range of other wines under various other DOC and IGT titles, including the value Scaia range and the sulphite-free Telos range.
