After fermentation, the wine was aged in 25% new American oak to complement the flavors and tannins of the wine and soften the mid-palate.\n\nTo make a well-balanced red wine, we blended Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Malbec and Merlot from the Borden Ranch and Mokelumne River appellations, both within the larger Lodi AVA. Fruit from Borden Ranch, located in the northeastern hills of the Lodi appellation, grows on loose, stony soil that allows for strong vine growth and adds great concentration to the wine. Vineyards in the Mokelumne River AVA experience a mild Mediterranean climate with cool afternoons and warm evenings adding ripe, fruit flavors and soft tannins to the wine.\n\n
