This wine is a deep straw yellow color. There is a pleasingly fruity and persistent bouquet, with notes of Golden Delicious apples and almonds. Good body on the palate, well balanced, elegant, with silky texture and distinct finesse.\n \n Producer Information\n Villa Bucci is a well-regarded producer of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico based in a 400-hectare (1000-acre) estate in the central Italian region of the Marche. The Bucci family has been farming in this region since the 18th Century and first began bottling their own Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico wines under the Villa Bucci label in 1983. The property comprises 26 hectares (64 acres) of vines planted over seven vineyard sites. Generally, the vineyards are planted in soils rich in clay and limestone, and vines average around 40 years old and are cultivated organically. Verdicchio is by far the dominant grape variety at Bucci, with 21 hectares (52 acres) devoted entirely to its cultivation. The grapes from each vineyard are vinified separately in the underground winery and later blended to create two expressions of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico: a Riserva and a Superiore. The Riserva ages for 12-15 months in Slavonian oak barrels and six months in bottle. The six-hectare (15-acre) San Fortunato vineyard is the only site planted to Montepulciano and Sangiovese, grape varieties that form the basis of the estate's two Rosso Piceno DOC-classified wines. Both wines age for one year in oak and six months in bottle. Villa Bucci also makes an extra virgin olive oil and Grappa di Vinacce di Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi that is made from the Verdicchio grape residue produced as part of the winemaking process.
