Live Oak Zinfandel is known for its ripeness and individuality. This wine is a classic example of the big Zinfandels, for which Cline Cellars has become known. The 2018 Live Oak Zinfandel is deep ruby in color and opens with aromas of dark berries. On the palate the wine delivers notes of rich berry and notes of sweet spice. This well-balanced and lively wine mingles structure, acidity and fine-grained tannins perfectly to culminate in a long and lingering finish.\n \n Producer Information\n Cline Cellars is a producer based in the Carneros region of California. It is particularly known for its wines made of Zinfandel as well as a selections of the Rhône varieties Syrah, Mourvèdre and Grenache. Owner Fred Cline was one of the first to plant Rhône varieties in California and is one of the original "Rhone Rangers" a non-profit organization dedicated to so-called "American Rhone" varietal wines. The portfolio is arranged in several tiers, headed by the single vineyard wines. Varietal wine from Zinfandel, Syrah, Peit Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre plus the occasional Late Harvest Mourvèdre are all produced from select old-vine blocks in the Contra Costa County AVA. The Meadowbrook Ranch Zinfandel comes from Tehama County, and the Los Carneros Syrah comes from a hillside plot in the estate vineyard. The Sonoma Coast Estate Grown range is the next tier down, featuring grape varieties more recently taken up by Cline – Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Merlot – alongside the more established Zinfandel and Rhône varieties. The Ancient Vines range comes from low-yielding plots in Contra Costa County, and the entry-level California Classics line rounds out the range.
