The 2017 Pegaso Zeta is a juicy, straightforward, open and expressive pure Garnacha, and it's a little riper than the 2016, which was the vintage of the change. But it faithfully represents a warmer year of faster ripening and perhaps a little less complexity.\n \n Producer Information\n Compañía de Vinos Telmo Rodriguez produces wines across many regions of Spain, from Malaga in the south to Rioja in the north. Telmo Rodriguez himself is regarded as one of his country's leading winemakers. The company was founded in 1994 as Compañía de Vinos de la Granja by Telmo Rodriguez and two other winemakers, to create a Garnacha from old bush vineyards in Navarra. Over time, the portfolio has greatly extended with various projects across the country the first of which was producing the relatively unknown wine grape varity of Juan Garcia commercially. The company has since remained focused on producing native varieties, such as Godello and Monastrell. It has rescued neglected and abandoned vineyards in largely ignored areas, as was the case with the Molino Real Moscatels from the mountains of Malaga and Pegaso, and Castilla y León VT Garnacha wines from slate-strewn hillside plots near the town of Cebreros in the province of Ávila. This expansion led to other labels in more familiar areas, such as Matallana in Ribera del Duero, and Lanzaga in Rioja. Gago in Toro is well known to many fans of Spanish wine, and top examples of their respective DOs are also made in Alicante, Cigales, Rueda and Valdeorras. All vineyards are farmed biodynamically, and trained to bush vines in the traditional Spanish way. Replanting only uses massal selections from existing vineyard material. In total, the company farms 80 hectares (197 acres) of 43 different grape varieties.
