Underbrush, blackberry, menthol and a whiff of smoke lead the nose. The aromas carry over to the tightly knit palate along with dried cherry, blood orange, tobacco and licorice.\n \n Producer Information\n Feudi di San Gregorio is a producer founded in 1986 in Campania with a large range of wines of consistently high quality, covering many of the region's numerous appellations and grape varieties. Above all, it is known for wines from Campania's signature red variety Aglianico. The estate consists of several vineyards around Campania, including those in Irpinia, Tufo, Taurasi and in Sorbo Serpico, where the winery is located. All up, there are around 300 hectares (750 acres) of vines, covering a range of different terroirs. The flagship wine is Serpico, an Irpinia Aglianico DOC red wine. The grapes come from century-old vines from the Vigneto Storico (historic vineyard). It spends 18 months in medium toast French oak barriques and 500-liter barrekls.. The Taurasi Riserva DOCG Piano do Montevergine is not far behind in terms of renown, and there are also several other premium Aglianico wines. Feudi di San Gregorio also makes a range of other wines, including Greco di Tufo, Fiano di Avellino, Falanghina and Lacryma Christo Bianco, all of which are considered among the best examples available of each.
