From the vineyards, Rudd is honored to share the much anticipated 2010 vintage that encompasses a striking combination of finesse and strength in wine. The backbone of strong tannins that round out over time and give longevity to wine, combined with a broad range and subtlety of flavor, make this vintage a beautiful example of the evolution of the wines from our estate. Each day we learn more about how our red, rocky volcanic soil perfectly complements our micro-climate and Bordeaux varietals planted in the heart of Oakville 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Cabernet Franc, 8% Petite Verdot, 7% Malbec\n Offers lots of up-front spiciness to the cherry and red berry core. This is elegant, with loamy earth, black licorice and cedar notes that gain depth and persistence, ending with firm, gravelly tannins.\n \n Producer Information\n Rudd Estate is a Napa Valley wine estate with vineyards in two of the region's most notable AVAs: Oakville and Mount Veeder. It produces red wines based on the Cabernet Sauvignon grape variety, and white wines from Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris and Sémillon. The estate was founded in 1996 by Leslie and Susan Rudd, after they purchased a property in Oakville. Since then, the Rudds have expanded the original winery and established an estate in the cooler conditions of Mount Veeder where the white varieties are planted at around 1500 feet (460 meters). The estate winery already featured cave wine cellars when the Rudds bought it, but they have now been expanded to over 20,000 square feet (1850 square meters). Temperature and humidity control systems have also been added, giving optimum conditions for barrel maturation. The caves are home to the Rudd Wine Library. The 78,000 tonnes of bedrock blasted out of them has been used to contruct the walls around the Oakville property.
