The Marchese Luca Spinola is located in Rovereto di Gavi (in the Province of Alessandria) and is part of the historical properties of the Spinola family
The vineyards currently cover 11 hectares, of which 6 in the Municipality of Tassarolo and 5 in the Municipality of Gavi . The vineyards enjoy excellent exposure to the sun all year long, are located at an altitude of 200 m a.s.l. and are ideal for the cultivation of the vines.
Exclusively producing and selling grapes to the best producers of the Gavi region from 1955 until 2004, the Marchese Luca Spinola now produces and markets wines made only from their very finest grapes. At present, three type of Gavi are produced: DOCG Gavi di Gavi “Tenuta Massimiliana”, DOCG Gavi del Comune di Gavi and DOCG Gavi del Comune di Tassarolo, all of which are all single vineyard wines. The different characters (namely the aromas that are always different and unique) of each of the Gavi wines produced by Marchese Luca Spinola, originate exclusively from the different exposure to the sun and from the different composition of the soil in the three single vineyards.
The old vineyards, planted from 1955, have about 3638 plants per hectare, while the new ones, planted in 2000, have 3800 plants.
