Cohesive aromas of black cherry, black plum and tilled earth are lifted by savory accents of dewy herbs and crushed red pepper flakes in this well balanced Cabernet Franc. It shows smooth tannins on the palate that support the juicy berry and plum flavors, with a polish and poise to it all that makes it a delight to drink.\n \n Producer Information\n \n Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard is a producer based in the Finger Lakes wine region of New York. Established by Hermann J. Wiemer in 1979, the winery boasts an extensive catalogue of wines, from the flagship Riesling cuvees to varietal reds and whites, blends and sparkling and sweet labels. The German born and educated Wiemer settled in the Finger Lakes region in the 1960s before establishing the winery in Dundee, on the shores of Seneca Lake. His family hails from Bernkastel in the historic Mosel Valley wine region. Weimer established a vineyard (and subsequent) winery on 80 acres (32 hectares) of land northwest of Dundee with the first plantings in 1976. Considered one of the pioneers of winemaking in the region, he retired in 2007 and the winery maintains a global reputation for the quality of its Rieslings. These are produced in a variety of styles from dry to off-dry and sweet, as well as numerous single-vineyard releases. The wider portfolio includes Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, Cabernet Franc and a long-standing Pinot Noir as well as a range of sparkling wines produced in the Méthode Champenoise style.
