Fresh, succulent stonefruit with a citrus backbone. Often typified by warm tropical fruit and a touch of oak. Aromas of ripe citrus, nectarine and passionfruit drive this style. \n \n Producer Information \n Weingut Carl Loewen is located near the town of Leiwen between Trier and Bernkastel. The vineyard's history goes back to 1803, when the family's ancestors bought vineyards in Maximiner Klosterlay. Today, the winery is owned by Karl Josef and his son Christopher Loewen. The production focuses on Riesling, which makes up approx. 95% of the winery's 15 ha of vineyards spread over the towns of Leiwen, Longuich, Detzem and Thörnich. More than 50% of the vineyards consist of ungrafted 60-120 year old Riesling vines. Only natural fertilizers are used in the vineyards and vinification takes place by natural spontaneous fermentation.
