Apothic White is a lively, medium-bodied wine with layers of bright fruit. The rich, round and complex Chardonnay leads the blend, adding bright notes of pear and vanilla. Pinot Gris contributes refreshing hints of peach and apricot, while Riesling adds juicy pineapple and tropical character as well as zesty acidity. \n \n Producer Information \n Apothic Wines is a range of wines produced by California's largest wine exporter, E.J. Gallo. It began with a single wine, the Apothic Red, which was first released in commercial volumes in 2010. The wine is a blend of Zinfandel, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, made in a full-bodied style with ripe, fruit-forward characters and some residual sugar. The wine's easy-drinking style was an immediate hit and Apothic wines followed up with the Apothic Dark, a fuller and more savory red blend, and a white wine made from Chardonnay, Riesling, and Pinot Grigio. Apothic Inferno was produced in 2014 and was a blend of 51 percent Zinfandel with remainder made up of Merlot, Syrah, Petite Sirah, Pinot Noir and Dornfelder. In February 2015, a limited-release red blend of Petite Sirah and Pinot Noir was sold as Apothic Crush. Further additions to the roster include the Apothic Rosé and a Sparkling Red. Although the 2010 vintage is considered the first full-scale release (over 800,000 cases) of Apothic Red, the wine was first made in 2007 by Gallo with a limited production of 15,000 cases. The 2007 offering was rounded praised by Robert Parker who called it, "one of the greatest bargains I have ever tasted from California [...] A hedonist’s dream [...]."
