Screw cap.\n Producer Information\n Jermann is a wine producer located in Fruili-Venezia Giulia in the north eastern corner of Italy, on the Austrian border. Its focus is on white wines made from both local and international grape varieties, including Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, Riesling, and Franconia. The estate was founded by Anton Jermann, a native of Austria, who settled in Italy and continued producing wines as he had done in his homeland. Since 1970, his great-grandson Silvio Jermann, has been in charge of the company and has helped bring it, and its wines, into modernity. In 1975, when the rest of the region was experimenting with single-varietal bottling, Jermann began to produce blends of local varieties like Franconia, Pinot Nero, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio and Picolit. Today the Jermann estate has around 170 hectares (420 acres) under vine on sandstone and marl soils. There are two wineries, one based in Gorizia and the other in Villanova. The former is designed to make Jermann's more prestigious wines, while the latter makes the rest of the range. Jermann's most highly acclaimed wine is the Vintage Tunina, an ageworthy blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Ribolla Gialla, Malvasia and Picolit. While the majority of Jermann's wines are white, there are a few red wines made from Pinot Nero and Pignolo.
