The estate\n\nA neighbour of the illustrious Chateau Haut-Brion, Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion has served for centuries as one of the most iconic names of Bordeaux. Founded in the 16th century by the Lestonnac family, the property was then managed by the Lazarist priests. Now belonging to the Clarence Dillon estates and Prince Robert of Luxembourg, Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion continues to shine as one the greatest wines in Bordeaux and the world.\n\nThe vineyard\n\nLocated in the municipalities of Talence and Pessac, Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion is in the Pessac-Leognan appellation. The Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion vineyard covers 29 hectares of vines, 25 of which are dedicated to red grape varieties and 4 to white grape varieties. The vines of Chateau de La Mission Haut-Brion are planted in beautiful gravelly soils resting upon a subsoil of clay, sand, limestone and faluns (a shelly limestone).\n\nThe vintage\n\nWhile winter and spring were marked by heavy rainfall, drought set in at the beginning of summer. The operations of the teams at the Chateau were limited so as to protect the vines from the sun. Even though maturity was very early, these high temperatures, accompanied by a significant water deficit, slowed down vine growth and tempered its advance. Through picking the grapes only in the mornings and transport to the wine cellar being refrigerated, the harvests preserved the fully ripe aroma of the harvested grapes. The 2020 vintage unveiled concentrated and beautifully fresh wines.\n\nBlend\n\nMerlot (48.6%)\nCabernet sauvignon (43.2%)\nCabernet franc (8.2%).
