Intense ruby red. Very intense and complex, with fruity aromas of cherry, blackberry and raspberry. Smooth with a good structure, it has a pleasant freshness and a long persistent aromatic finish.\n \n Producer Information\n Rocca delle Macìe is a well regarded Tuscan wine producer making a wide range of Sangiovese-based red wines in the Chianti Classico zone and in the Maremma Toscana. The company is made up of several estates, four of which are in the Chianti Classico zone. The original Le Macìe estate, the location of the main cellars, was established in 1973 and is the heart of the company. There are 42 hectares (104 acres) planted to Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and it is the home of the flagship Sergio Zingarelli Chianti Classico Gran Selezione cuvée. Riserva di Fizzano was added to the estate in 1984 and has 35 hectares (86 acres) under vine, plus the company's olive oil mill and hospitality facilities. This vineyard also produces the company's other flagship, the Riserva di Fizzano Chianti Classico Gran Selezione. Tenuta Sant'Alfonso is planted entirely to Sangiovese and makes a Chianti Classico wine, while the 22 hectare (54 acre) La Tavolelle was added to Rocca delle Macìe's portfolio in 1998. The latter holds only 5.5 hectares (13 acres) of Sangiovese although it is the site of a new cellar for the top red cuvées. Over in the Maremma, Rocca delle Macìe owns two estates: Campomaccione and Casmamaria Farm. These make a Morellino di Scansano wine and a white wine made from Vermentino, respectively. The portfolio also includes a Vin Santo and the Grappa di Rubizzo, as well as olive oil and honey. Rocca delle Macìe was founded in 1973 by television and film producer Italo Zingarelli when he bought Le Macìe estate, which at the time had only two hectares (five acres) under vine.
